Introduction
When you don’t fit into the cookie cutter mold of what a “typical couple” looks like, life can be stressful enough, so adding the challenge of trying to conceive (TTC) was a whole new layer for us as a couple. We wasted countless time, money, and energy on finding a solution that would work for us but in the end, it was the Mira device that ultimately helped us reach our goal of getting pregnant. We couldn’t be happier to be expecting our baby and we couldn’t have done it without Mira. This is our story of how we navigated the fertility world and used the Mira device to get pregnant.
Our history
I know everyone’s fertility journey is unique and that not all transgender men have the ability (or desire) to conceive naturally but thankfully my husband Julian retained his female reproductive organs so that wasn’t an issue for us. Although I never really identified as LGBTQIIA+, being a gay couple can present some unique fertility challenges, especially with a pregnant man.
My partner had been on hormone replacement therapy for nearly a decade so we were not only stressed about his fertility, but also about the judgment we might receive by challenging societal norms. And as we went further down this road, we became increasingly frustrated with the process. We spent so much time and money on fertility devices and doctors visits and were no closer to being pregnant. All of the ovulation sticks, the apps, temperature monitoring, etc left us feeling like we didn’t know who to believe or even what the results meant. So when I saw a targeted Facebook ad that claimed a hormone-tracking device could help us I jumped at the chance.
Being a data cruncher, I loved the idea of using a device that would give us more concrete information and help us learn what was happening in the process. Mira helped us see trends in the data and what was actually going on with those hormones. We were no longer throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what stuck, we could see actual data and what those results meant. Seeing the numbers was like looking at a data sheet and suddenly it all made sense. Not only were we able to use that information to get our timing correct, but it helped me feel more secure as a partner. It gave me more of a role to play and a huge sense of peace of mind.
Using Mira
Using the Mira device was very encouraging. It gave my partner and I a chance to see what was happening with his hormones and we could even share that information with our fertility specialist. The personalized hormone tracking not only helped us make informed decisions, but it made the whole process that much easier to endure. We could finally stop wasting our money on other fertility gadgets because we found a tool that works. Mira was like having a fertility professional at home!
After using the device for nearly 6 months, our dream came true and we are now expecting. There is no more wondering and now we can start preparing for our little one to arrive. We are beyond excited and firmly believe that the only reason we were able to conceive is because of Mira.
Mira made something that can be difficult and challenging much easier to navigate. In fact, at one point I reached out to Mira with some questions and was pleasantly surprised by the response. Rather than a bunch of promotional spam, they gave resources to help us out and even sent us a box of wands to use. Not only do they stand behind what they do, but they go out of their way to help and educate their customers.
Advice for others
I never thought a little wand and an electronic device would put me on the path to parenthood but here we are. I hope that reading our story gives hope to others that it is possible and there are tools out there that can help. Stop wasting your time, money, and precious energy on things that might not work. Mira gave us peace of mind because of how accurate the data is and because it works. If it wasn’t accurate it wouldn’t work. And if it didn’t work we wouldn’t be here!
