When my husband and I decided to start a family, we made sure everything was in order with our diet and lifestyle to make this goal a reality. However, there were always some fears that trying to conceive would take a long time as I didn’t have a very regular menstrual cycle.
Irregular cycles make the journey harder
My ovulation never seemed to happen at the ‘right time’ in my cycle. I know that not everyone ovulates in the middle of their cycle, but for me, there wasn’t really any pattern – which we knew would make it harder for us to pinpoint my fertile window and could make this a longer journey.
I had various consultations with OB/GYNs and also had some lab tests done to try and identify the issues. Although my tests for thyroid issues came back negative, I had consistently high estrogen levels and a short luteal phase. I had also had a loss years before – it felt like the odds were stacked against us.
Discovering Mira
I was starting to lose hope, but I came across Mira on the internet as a recommendation for people trying to conceive with irregular cycles. I had nothing to lose so we gave it a go! With Mira tracking my hormones daily, I was able to see easily when I was ovulating (which was different than what other methods predicted) and start to identify my actual fertile window. After two months of using Mira, we conceived! I think it would have taken much longer without Mira.
Advice for others
When it comes to tools and resources I would definitely recommend Mira, especially if, like me, your cycle is irregular. In terms of mindset, everyone has a different journey. Honor your feelings and your experiences, but try to keep hope and faith and be patient (which isn’t always easy!). Loss and struggling to conceive can make you doubt yourself and your worthiness, but you are worthy of love and happiness. It might be worth considering therapy or spiritual guidance to get you through the dark times.
